Question What size wire????

Iím moving my daughterís washing machine and gas dryer to her basement.

Both machines are on the same 120 Volt, 20 amp circuit breaker.

1. What size wire should I be using?

2. Is it okay to run both machines from the same circuit or should I run on seperate breakers?

Thanks for you thoughts.

Jim

washer/dryer power

My washer and dryer are on the same 20a line. If that's what you had before and now have same in basement, there should not be a problem. If you'd check the boilerplates on the machines you will see what their power requirements are.

A washer and a gas dryer can be on the same circuit. The circuit needs to be 20 amp, and the wire 12 gage copper.

Based on your question, you are new to this. Please buy and read at least one book on home wiring. I recommend Wiring Simplified. That book, or any good book, would have answered not only this question, but the others you have not asked.

Electricity can and does kill. Please be careful.

Thanks

Finally found enough time to add the new circuit for the washer and dryer.

The only surprise was the price of the wire. $0.56 per foot WOW

Like my wife says, I'm still living in the 50s when it comes to pricing anything.

Thanks to everyone for all your help.

Jim
