Question Question UK AC outlet to US AC outlet convertors?

Looking to pick up a UK AC outlet to US AC outlet converter (2 to 3 or 3 to 2 can't remember which was which) and I'm wondering if it should be some cheapy one I've seen at electronics shops for under $3 (among a host of other convertors for various regions etc), I mean, should they be that inexpensive? I am wanting to make sure as I wouldn't want to toast anything I'd be using obviously but for whatever reason I'm thinking they would have been a little more expensive.

Should I have any worries about using one of these current convertors in general? Anything I should be aware of?

~Thanks!

I have no idea.
But isn't inice to know (if this is what you need) That you won't get "scr--d".
If this is what you need, Stay silent, They just may raise the price.

What you are looking at is probably only reconfiguring the prongs. It does nothing to the voltage or frequency.

If your appliance can be switched on the back to the proper voltage and frequency then these will do just fine. If not you will need something alot more expensive.

UK uses 240 volts. US uses 120 volts. Unless the device is universal voltage then you need to do more than just convert the plug so it will fit in US receptacle. That is all I could imagine the $3 converter doing.
