Question Earthing sink

I'm installing a new kitchin and want to know whether I have to earth the sink. The old sink wasn't earthed but I can see the end of an earth wire sticking out of the plaster where it looks like its been cut at some point.

Based on the term "earth" I am wondering if you live in the USA.

Please let us know where you live. Most of our users are from the US but not all.

In the USA there is no requrement to earth the sink, but the laws are different in different countries..

Best bet would be to check with your local authority. Since most of us on this site are in the U.S., we're just not going to be able to answer a question about U.K. codes.

But PLEASE respond back, Because it is all relivent. We would all like to expand our knowledge.

Thanks.

in the states we have a common GROUND/BOND, Therefore each device does not need individual connections.

If it is there, USE IT, If betweeen the drain and the sink, there is plastic (pvc), place a jumper connecting the metal parts.
