Dryer Receptacle Location

My dryer receptacle box was damaged so I am replacing it. However, while I was at it, I started wondering whether a 220 volt outlet located directly on the floor was a good idea. (Wonder what the original builder was thinking - can't imagine what would happen if the washing machine flooded) How high off the ground can I place the outlet? I'd prefer to have it as high as the back panel of the dryer, since the dryer is 2 inches deeper everywhere except the panel.

Thanks...

You can put your dryer receptacle on the wall just about anywhere, as long as the cord reaches. Think about whether you want it accessible without first moving the dryer.

Some people think they look uglly and do not want to see them. I like to put them just above the backsplash of the dryer.

Like racraft said, so I can unplug it before I start to move the dryer.
