Ground Wire

During a recent replacement of my main water line, the plumber doing the job informed me that I don't have a ground wire to the house (he found this out when the water line carried a current of electricity when I turned on the microwave).

How on Earth do I run a ground line? People tell me it's easy, but no one has shown me how. Is it something a novice can do, or should I call in a pro?

He is probably telling you that there is no bonding of the plumbing to the electrical system. He might also be telling you that there is no ground for the electrical system.

I suggest that you call an electrician. The problem may be any number of things, and is nothing to try on your own unless you know what you are doing.

I figured it was probably something I didn't want to mess with. Thanks for the info!
