Post Power Stays on

I just bought a 37 year old home with 2 main panels, both are 100 amp service. I always switch off power before working on anything. I went through both panels to find the breaker for the kitchen lights. No success. So I switched off the main panels to cutthe power to them. With both panels turned off in the house, I still have lights on in the kitchen. Nothing else seems to be on, just the kitchen lights. Help !!

Did you switch of the main breaker in each panel? If so then there must be another panel somewhere. Find the meter and follow the cable or piep coming from it. See if you can find another panel closer to the meter.

Power stays on

I will look tonight and see if I can fins anything in between the breaker panels and the meter. I can't understand why a home would be wired this way but...
