need some wiring advice in an old house
My problem is I am trying to run an outlet from a light switch which is wired with some old wiring containing only one black wire and one white wire. Can I run the outlet from the switch like it is or do i need to run all new wiring?

not a prf. but running of a sitch your outlet would turn of ever time with the switch? Right not sure. No wait you have a neatual and a ground yes you can run a outlet but you have to three way wire it wich prob. isnt safe.

Wiring
If the switch box only has one black and one white, it only contains a switch loop without power wiring. The power cable is probably routed through the ceiling box at the light.

You need to run new wiring for two reasons.
You are not allowed to extend old wiring that has no ground to a new receptacle.
You cannot extend a switch loop to a receptacle. A switch loop, wirepuller explained, is wiring that is only two wires to a switch with nothing else in the box. You have no neutral.
