stripping wire

Other than burning is there any quicker and cleaner way of strippng the insulation off of #10 or #12 wire for scrapping? and if burning is the best way, does the burning insulation give off any harmful vapors?

1) Yes. A very expensive automatic stripper. Or a helper.

2) Yes. I would NOT burn it.

burning is illegal in a lot of places (should be everywhere )

scrappers will take it with the insulation

Thumbs up A good wire stripping machine can help

I found a great wire stripping machine, it's drill powered and strips most sizes of wire. Very durable. Check it out on their site [link removed]

I've never perfected the technique, but I've talked to an electrician who sits at the TV at night with a utility knife and strips the wire that way.
