Water in My Electrical Panel - AFCI won't reset

Background - Came home the other night and found both AFCI breakers were tripped. They won't reset. they just keep tripping.

Action taken - I had a spare regular breaker so I pulled out the AFCI and swapped it. It worked. As I was holding the AFCI in my hand I noticed Water dripping out of it. I took a closer look at the panel and there was a small puddle in the bottom of the box. Obviously water got in during this storm we are having. I left the AFCI out overnight and put in on a heating vent to dry out. I just went to put it back in and it keeps tripping.

Problem - I just went to put it back in and it keeps tripping. Do you think the breaker is dead? or are there other problems?

email me at [email protected] if you think you have a suggestions.

Dave

Unfortunately You will be buying 2 AFCI breakers, Expensive yes, Unreliable now. Some things can't be recycled.
Next you should find where the water came in,The season is still young!
This will continue if not dealt with, Good luck.
