Take Two: Blinking Christmas Tree lights ? ?

Two sets of minature lights strung together, non-flashing. Three "red-tips" installed for flashing.

The lights flash on/off only on tuesdays, thursdays, and saturdays. The other days: all on solid. This makes as much sense as a boat trailer pulling the Silverado-uphill. What's going on?

Could the red tip lights simply be worn out? Could swings in ambient room temperature have an effect on the activation of the blinkers?

Let's toss some ideas around here.

I don't think you should be using more than one of the flashing light (red tips) per string. I think you may have the equivalent of two photocells on one light. When one comes on, the other goes off because of the presence of light, then the first will go off because the second one came on. Not sure, just food for thought.
