3way switch mess
I have a hall light with 2 3way switches, the first switch will turn the light on and off but the second will turn on the light if the first is off but if the first is on the second will not do anything. The wiring matches on both switches, black wires on common and red and white on others. Is this a wiring problem or is the one switch bad????
Thanks,
Jones

I doubt very much either switch is bad. I suspect that you wired it wrong.
Tell us ALL the wiring at each box (both switches and at the light) and we can sort it out. Be specific. Tell us every cable and every wire in every cable. Tell us how each wire is connected, even if it does not connect to a switch.

With that.. It could very well be a bad switch. Did you do the remodel?
I'm just asking. Did you just buy the house? how old is the remodel?
Before you tear the house apart, I would start with 2 new switches.
