Question box with an outlet and switch

What is the appropriate way of wiring an outlet and a light switch that share a box. For example in the kitchen?
outlet and light switch on separate circuits (20 AMP for outlets and 15 AMP for lights)
or this outlet on the same 15 AMP circuit as the light switch

Thanks,
Pete

In the kitchen, you cannot have a RECEPTACLE and a light on the same circuit.

When two devices from different circuits share a box, only the ground wires are connected. All the ground wires must be connected together. All devices must be grounded, and the box (if metal) must be grounded. Nothing else between the circuits is connected in any way.
