Elec Baseboard Wiring Q.

Two elec baseboard heaters end-to-end. BUT, they are on separate circuits. There is a wall between them. (two separate rooms)

(-------) (III) (--------)
(heater) (wall) (heater)

Can I run the wiring for the second heater THRU the first heater?
Imagine the cross-sectional end of the heater. There's a approximately 1"X1" area in the bottom of the heater that runs the full length of the heater. If it's fully enclosed, can I do that?
I can't see any other way to get to room #2.

This would depend upon the UL listing for the heater. You will need to check the manual or with the manufacturer.

If the part of the heater that you describe is listed as a wireway, then you can use it as described.

If it is not listed as a wireway, then you cannot do this.

See for example:
http://www.shopfnc.com/qmcbd.htm where the heater has a built in wireway

http://www.cadetco.com/support/faq/1004.html where the heaters cannot be used in this fashion.

I for one would be very interested to find any equipment, other than strip lighing fixtures, that have been listed as a chapter 3 wiring method.

In short, NO you cannot use the fixture as a raceway, unless the mfg has had the raceway listed to be used in this manner.

I am gonna take an off the wall guess that the mfgs of heaters did not.

By this I mean that the wire way in the heater is not likely to ever have been listed as an approved raceway to feed through to other equipment.
