Noisy Baseboard Heater

Noisy Baseboard Heater
My friend called me to her house to inspect a baseboard heater. When it's turned on it starts making a screeching noise. It might stop it might not. Also she says her room doesn't heat up like before. The heater looks older than the others in the house. Do heaters wear out? It has the built in thermostat. Just wondering why it wouldn't be pumping out the normal amount of heat and what would be making the noise. I've never encountered any problems with baseboard heaters before after installation.

Make? - I don't know?
What's it run on? - Electricity...hence the Electricity Section.
Age? - looks to be about 20-30 years old.
It's just this heater of 3 on one circuit. All 3 heaters have those built in stats.
**I haven't stripped it down yet and i haven't investigated the panel either. 1/2 heat sounds like have load so I'll be checking the panel today.

Metal contracts and expands as it is heated and cools off. What has most likely happened is that a wire or a connection within the heater has come loose. A loose wire can be repaired. A piece of the heater probably cannot be repaired.
