from fan to light

I had a cieling fan with a light, the light was operated by a wall switch, the fan via pull ropes on the unit.
I've removed the unit and am putting just a light fixture on the ceiling.
The cieling electrical box has a white, red and 2 black wires. When I hook the light to the 2 black and white, lights go on, switch doesn't work. No lights with r to b or w to r. Now if I undo the 2 black, my wall switch looses power. The wall switch shows red and white.
any ideas out there??

How was it wired before you took the fan/light down? That will provide your answer.

You can also determine the answer based on using a meter or simple two wire tester.

Unless you have conduit, you aren't telling us all the wires.

Tell us ALL the wires at the switch and at the light. By ALL I mean just that, all the wires, including ones that are not connected to the switch or tlight or whatever.
