Another ceiling fan to light question.

I have been looking at other post for answer but could not come up with same situation. I recently removed ceiling fan to install basic light fixture, when I removed fan there were 2 wires coming out of ceiling one black and one brown. The black was connected to the black and red wire from the fan and the brown to the white neutral wire on the fan. The new light fixture has 2 black wires and one ground wire, do I connect each of the black wires(light) to the black wire from ceiling? What about neutral wire(brown) or ground on light?? thanks for any help.

Look very carefully at the light black wires. One of them will have ridges or be striped or in some way identified. That wire is the neutral. Connect the neutral to the "brown" wire from the ceiling (which is probably darkened white, not brown) and connect the black wire without id to the black wire in the ceiling.
