replacing 3way switches with dimmer switches

replacing 3way switches with dimmer switches

Is ok to replace both 3way switches with 3way dimmer switches so the light can be dimmed from both locations?

NO, You will only be capable of dimming from 1 location.
Think the location thru. The last setting of the dimmer will be the setting when the other switch is thrown. = 1 dimmer 1 reg. 3/way.

Look at the Lutron Maestro line of dimmers. They make an expandable n-way dimmer kit which does exactly what you want. One dimmer is the "master" and you can have multiple remote dimmers.
