Wire colors

I bought a pull chain assembly. There are 3 wires attached to it. Black, blue, and red. Is there a standard involved here? Black is hot,red is neutral, blue is ground? Thanks

Your pull chain has no neutral and no ground, assuming it is just a pull chain.

Use a meter and figure this out.

It likely works as off, common (probably black) to red, common to blue.

off, common to red, common to blue, common to both red and blue.

Depending on how you wish to use it determines how you wire it.

Normally, you'd wire it black hot, blue load 1, red load 2, with it working like Off, Load 1, Load 3, Load 1&2, then off again.
