electrical switch

Thumbs up electrical switch

What is the standard electrical switch height to center of the box? I thought it was 54"

Not an electrician, but in the FWIW category, my downstairs switches are at 46" to the top of the box. My upstairs switches are at 48". Taller electrician upstairs?

There is no standard height. Most electricians install switches at about 48" from the floor.

48" TTT here, unless it is an addition/renovation, then I match the existing.

For DIYers, who are unlikely to be building a new house from scratch, the most important rule is to match the existing height. People get used to reaching at a particular height as they move around the house, and it works better if all the switches are the same.

Switch height !!

My thanks to everyone with switch height question! I am just getting started in the electrical field!
