Cool heater blowing main breaker

I just wanted to see if someone out there could help me out. I have a problem with my heater blowing out my main circuit breaker after its running for about thirty minutes. I have a double 125 amp GE main circuit breaker. When I go out to reset it, I have to wait a couple of minutes because it continues to trip and it is hot. I havent't checked any of the wiring yet just wanted to see if anyone had any knowledge of what may be some good steps to take first. Thanks

From the description you give it sounds like you have a serious problem with the main breaker, not the heater. Especially seeing that the breaker is hot and not able to re-set.

I would strongly recommend having a pro evaluate this situation. This is NOT anything for a DIYer to mess with, unless you are QUITE advanced and have a really good clue about what you are doing.
