Cool Dryer and Breaker

Everytime I use the Clothes Dryer it goes for a varied time and then the circuit breaker goes. So I flip the breaker back and start the dryer all over again. It does this repeatedly, how do I fix this issue?

Tell us the size of the wire in the dryer circuit and the breaker size and type.

The most common causes of this problem are either the dryer heating element going bad or the dryer vent getting clogged with lint. These should be addressed by first shop-vaccing out the dryer and vent, then testing and possibly replacing the heating element.

A much more serious cause is an overheating breaker caused by a loose connection between the breaker and the panel bus or between the wire and breaker. If you smell any hot smell, hear any popping or cracking, or if the breaker feels hot; then you need to have the breaker and panel bus examined ASAP. If left unchecked, a loose breaker will destroy the main panel at best or cause a fire at worst.

Although I agree with Ben's common causes, there are many other possibilities too. Could you please give us the age of the dryer and the age of the house?
