Getting ready for rough inspection

Getting ready for inspector to add some circuits. Close to where the inspector will be looking I have a romex cable running in the garage ceiling toward the top of a 12x4 beam running across the garage. It is attached by staples and was done by previous owners for a refer circuit in the garage. Is it a violation and if it is what is an easy way to protect. I would not have taken this project on if it was not for all the help I get on this site.

Is it a finnished garage? Is it susceptible to damage? If it is unfinished it would be required to be outdoor rated cable or TWHN in conduit .

In answer to the original question, probably not a code violation.

Hillbilly's implied point is correct. Merely being "unfinished" does not mean that outdoor wiring is required, assuming the garage is dry.
