installing new lighting to existing switch/outlet

I have an outlet that is controlled by a wall switch. I would like to have the outlet on all of the time and install recessed lighting onto the switch how is this done. I tried to hook it up myself and as best as I can explain here is what happens, I have three lines going into the switch, (2) 2/14 and (1) 3/14, right now when I hook up all blacks together, all whites together and hook to switch I get power to the light but the switch does not work (outlet will not work anymore). Not sure of best way to explain it but can describe in better detail if need be. Thanks for any help?

Where do each of the 14-2 cables go?
Where does the 14-3 cable go?

How was it connected before at the switch? and receptacle? Where did you add your new cable for the light? AT the switch? or the the receptacle?
