minimum clearance for recessed lights

I am installing 6 and 4 IC rated Halo recessed lights in my basement that I am framing out.
I was wondering if there is a minimum clearance distance for these devices, because I am planning on installing some directly next to the framing members.
I am assuming that they can since they are IC rated. Also I might have some installed in soffit which would be framed directly around the IC rated recessed light. Is this against code and would it cause a fire hazard?
I will not be installing any type of insulation in this part of the ceiling
Thanks

You can slam em up tight to the studs. They have themal cutouts if they get too hot they shut down or blink. Make sure you got the correct wattage lamps, and drop the guts down flush to building finish and youre golden.

To add a little bit -- IC lights can go right up to framing. Non-IC lights need 3" clearance.
