In a pathologically constructed worst case, you could get injured by a battery-powered tool, especially as the tool manufacturers keep upping the voltage. But realistically, it would be pretty hard to hurt yourself electrically with such a tool. The real hazard is cutting your finger off, which happens to roughly 10 people a day using power saws in the U.S.

my biggest concern would be ruining the saw.

While I don't recommend it there is no more danger in using a corded and properly grounded power saw while standing in a mud puddle with bare feet than there is using a non-powered saw.

And a battery saw is even better.
