removal of outdoor light fixture

I'm going to remove an outdoor light near my door. How do I "cap" the wires before putting shingles over the area? The circuit breaker that conrols this light controls multiple other lights in the house.
Thanks--

You cannot bury live or potentially live wires. One option is to keep the junction box, cutting the shingles out around it, and putting a blank cover plate over it. This would allow you to someday add the light back if you want. The only other option is to find the electrical box where the wires to this box come from. Disconnect the wires in that box, cut them off short, and push them out of the box. If you do this, then you can do anything you want at the other end.

Also remember that the Code requires exterior doorways to have a source of illumination.
