Switch loop question
I'm connecting a new light fixture to a switch loop and I just wanted to make sure that I wired it in an acceptable manner.
Should I wire the incoming hot wire to the black or the white wire that leads to the switch (single-pole)?
I'm assuming that if I wire the hot to the black wire going to the switch, then I need to wrap the white coming back from the switch with black electrical tape so that anyone after me knows that it is a hot wire.
On the other hand, if I wire the hot to the white wire going to the switch, then I need to wrap the white wire on both ends with black electrical tape so that it is properly labeled as hot.
Is one of these considered more standard than the other?
Thanks in advance!

The black hot wire in the junction box goes to the WHITE wire to the switch, AND you should recolor this wire at both locations.
