Adding service to detatched garage
I've been told different things about what can and can't be done. I have new 100 amp service on my house with a 100amp disconnect serving the house mounted directly below the meter. I built a new garage and am wanting to run power out to it, I've been told to get a lug adaptor for my 100 amp breaker to "stack" 2 wires in each pole of the breaker. I've also been told to squeeze both wires under the screw on the breaker. I've looked all over for the lug adaptors and have had no success. Can I stack another service under the lugs of the light meter, on my side of course. I know the best thing would be to drop 200amp service and install 2 100amp disconnects. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

""I've been told to get a lug adaptor for my 100 amp breaker to "stack" 2 wires in each pole of the breaker""
this is not a really wise idea to do this one at all
"" I've also been told to squeeze both wires under the screw on the breaker ""
this one is a define a no-no at all majorty of breaker manufacters dont list two wires in one breaker lug connector at all and this is a very unsafe pratice.
"" I know the best thing would be to drop 200amp service and install 2 100amp disconnects. ""
this is a better way to do or run 200 amp service and run 100 amp feeder to the garage.
you will need electricial permits to run this set up and the inspector will check on this
i really suggest have a electrician to assist you with this matter because the service entrince is pretty serious matter to deal with it.
there are few codes you have to deal in your area
if you have more question please do post it in here in this fourm
