Doubtful. The panel is rated for 100 amps and that is the largest breaker you can put in as a main. If it would be possible to put in a larger main, you would have to have documentation from GE stating that that specific panel was built with 200 amp rated buss and it is acceptable to install a 200 amp main.

Chances are it would be cheaper and easier in the long run to simply put in a new 200 amp panel.

You would also have to upsize the feeder wires and your service feeders as well as your meter to do this anyway.

Depending on how you plan on using the 6 open slots you may not need to change the main breaker.

If you have questions about the capacity of your service you should do a load calculation.

Sounds like he might be adding up each of his existing breakers and that is at 100 or more, which we all know doesn't matter.
