Question Shed lights dim and then pop breaker?

Hello, just wondering if anyone has an idea about this? I wired 12-2 underground romex about 60 feet form my panel to my shed. It has a 20 amp breaker which is good and inside the shed has a junction box with a splice of 12-2 to 12-2 nm-b and the connections are tight. When I turn on the switch for the lights its comes on dim and then pops the breaker?

Instantly or after a delay? Do you have any receptacles at the shed? If so, does a plug-in tester show all good readings at the receptacle? Anything else other than the shed on this circuit?

Something is drawing a lot of current. If nothing is plugged in, then you probably have a high-resistance short circuit. Maybe you nicked the cable insulation somewhere (after the switch), or maybe two wires are accidentally loosely touching.

Where exactly is the switch?

Start disconnecting things one at a time and see what it takes to make it stop.

Had a similar problem like this before, turned out to be a box connector clamp which was tightened down too tightly. This was creating the high resistance short circuit that John was referring too.

Could also be a staple that is too tight.
