Question circuit breaker question

Recently I have had about half of my house's power shutting down for no reason. The area's are on different circuit breakers and none have tripped. In checking the breakers I discovered if you push on the main breaker or wiggle it from side to side the power would go back on. Any ideas? Thanks

YES, call an electrician IMMEDIATELY if not sooner.

This is nothing to fool with. A loose connection or a bad main breaker can be a serious safety issue.

Having said that, changing a main breaker has many serious safety issues, and should not be performed by a DIY. This is definitely a job for a qualified electrician.

I agree with Dwayne's opinion. Your main breaker and/or panel needs to be evaluated by an electrician and replaced ASAP. First concern is that this can catch fire. The second concern is the longer it waits the more heat damage can be caused to the panel internals which can be an expensive repair.

While you're waiting for the electrician, turn off everything you can live without. Use the least amount of power as possible.
