Compressor hook-up

I need to move and install a circuit for a 240VAC air compressor(30 amp circuit). The compressor currently has a 3 prong plug and receptacle. I have some spare 10/3 w/ground wire that I would like to use.

Can I just leave the white/neutral wire unconnected? or,

Use both the white and bare wires as ground? or,

Do I need to replace the 3 prong with a 4 prong?

The compressor motor has no provision for a neutral connection.

Leave the neutral wire unconnected on at least the receptacle end. Do not cut it off, but just leave it non-stripped, wire-nutted and tucked out of the way.
