Post first time wiring 3 way with one wire (black white)

i am new at this so go real slow-i am wiring a light in the hallway with two switches 3 way but only two wires black and white

Don and/or Karen,

Welcome to the forums. We're happy to go really slowly. In fact, we're probably going to go slower than you think. You have provided far too little information to proceed at this point.

I'll start with some simple questions for you, but will certainly have more later.

What are you starting with, and what are you doing? Are you merely replacing one light fixture with another? Are you adding a second switch? Are you wiring this whole thing from scratch where there was no switches and no lights before?

Where exactly do you have those two wires? At the light? At the switch?

You will need at least one cable with three wire(black, red, white).

This site has drawings of the many different ways three way switches can be wired.
