End Of Low Voltage Line

I ran my low voltage cable from a 150 ft rioll and i have to cut off about half of the roll. How do I seal the end that I cut, if it is going to be buriied in my garden. Also if I am burying the cable in an area that gets watered by sprinklers will they be alright or will the water affect them.

Some heat-shrink tubing or quality electrical tape can't hurt. It would also be a good idea to peel the conductors apart a few inches to avoid the possibility of a short. Copper wire is not significantly affected by water.

I might put a wire nut on each wire, and then fill that wire nut with 100% silicone caulk.

Thanks for the advice I will do all three. Pull apart the wires, wire nut eash one separately, then fill each wire nut with silicone caulk, and tape.

Gotta love overkill! (My boss loves to pick on me for my tendency toward it)
