subpanel circuit question

I just installed a Cutler-Hammer "load center" between the studs in my detached garage. The 6 ga (protected by a 60 amp breaker) subfeeds enter the bottom of the panel through conduit. The instructions that came with the panel show the circuits come out of the panel through the same side as the subfeeds. Is it permissible to use either the top or bottom of the panel for the circuits or must I use the bottom for the circuit wiring?

You may use any combination of the knockouts for branch circuits: top, side, bottom, back.
