Help, cut out holes to big for junction box

I put in like 8 junction boxes the other day. I cut a little to far on a few of them and now I have about 1/2-1" gaps on a few of them.

So when I put the cover plate on the receptacle you can still see through the drywall a little bit on the edges.

Whats the best way to fix this?? should I just run some drywall tape over the area and spackle over it? Its not really big enough to repair with a piece of drywall, but still big enough that you can see it.

thanks for any and all help.

Well, tape will probably work.

Another option is to use larger cover plates. They make two sizes larger than the standard size.

Your big box store or supply house will have mid-size plates and jumbo plates.
This is your easiest solution.
