Is this possible? 3 prong 3 wire 240ac to 3 prong 2 wire 230vac

I have a rather large video projector that requires 230V 1PH grounded (Nema 6-15 or 6-30). All I have in the house is a 3 wire Nema 10-30 dryer outlet.

I have cables to fit both ends, however, the ground/neutral on the 10-30 makes me nervous.

Is there any solution to this dilemma? I can post pictures of the various outlets and plugs if needed for clarification.

Thanks in advance.

You need to install the proper receptacle.

Which is it? Does it require 6-15 (15 amps) or 6-30 (30 amps)?

Are you asking if you can convert the existing dryer circuit to supply this projector? The answer is perhaps, we'll have to know what type of cable is feeding the dryer receptacle.

The best solution is to run a new circuit for the projector using 14/2 cable for 15A or 10/2 cable for 30A.
