Blue plastic switchbox question

Im almost ashamed to ask this question knowing as much as I do. On the blue plastic switchboxes, what do you do with the tabs where the wire is brought into the box? I know one part of it breaks open much easier than the other part of it. Should it be broken off completely or just pushed back enough to get the wires inside? The reason I ask is because it seems like the edge on the tab is rather sharp and I dont like sharp edges around my romex. I have never used the blue plastic boxes before. I have always used metal boxes. Thanks for your help.

The tabs can stay.
Just make sure that the romex is fastened within 6" of the box.
