dryer hookup

need help connecting 220 dryer line to older type fuse box. this is a 4 fuse panel 100 amp service

Put the red and the black wires under the screws for two 30 amp fuses.
Put the neutral wire in the neutral bus where the other white wires are.
Put the ground wire in the ground bus where the other ground wires are.

That's about all I can give you with limited info supplied.

Ornurse, if you have what I think you have you probably cannot connect the dryer to the fusebox.

If all you have for an electrical service is one fuse panel with four screw-in (plug) fuses along with (probably) two "pull-out" fuse blocks (one is a range circuit and the other is the main fuse for the plug fuses) the plug fuses are already serving the lights and receptacles in the house.

While there is nothing inherently wrong with this fuse panel there also is no place to expand it for the inclusion of a dryer. Adding a subpanel may be an option but I doubt it. I think you need at the very least a new (circuit breaker type) panel and maybe a whole new service.

dryer hookup

It seems i am in error. the fuse box has 8 fuses in it.
