Knob and Tube

Hey guys, I have a question. My brother purchased a house built in the early part of the century in West Virginia. The house has had the electrical upgraded a couple of times during remodels. There is still some knob and tube that is active. He wants to know if he can blow some insulation in his walls as it has no insulation. Someone told him that the knob and tube gets hot and could overheat with the insulation packed onto it. Is this true?
Thanks in advance,
Billy

Sorry, you are not allowed to insulate in spaces containing K&T. It creates a fire hazard. I suggest he start saving his money for a replacement of the K&T.
