Wireless light switch?

I recently had an licensed electrician run wire as part of my basement renovation. He wired the space to code, and installed a few 3-way switches and a 4-way switch, as per my request.

After the inspector approved their work, I put up the sheetrock and taped. Then, the electrician came back and set all the switches, receptacles, and fixtures.

Now that the switches are actually controlling the lights,I now realize is that one of the switches that I requested to be 3-way should have been 4-way (my mistake). So, there is no switch in a spot where there really should be one.

Because of the location where the switch is needed, it would be very hard to run another wire for the 3rd switch in the 4-way switch (a stairway and a steel "I" beam complicate fishing).

Forgive me if I sound igorant or crazy (or both), but is there a way to install a switch that does not have wires going to it that could be set-up so the 3 switches operate as 4-way switch? If it meant replacing the other (wired) switches too, I'd be willing to do that.

Thanks in advance.

Most home centers sell a "remote switch" for about $30. They are designed to add a second switch to a first switch. Your problem is a bit different in that you want to add a third switch. I don't know if they have that or not, but you could probably wire one of the switches you have as a single switch, and then add two remote switches.

Go to your home center and check out remote switches. See what's available.
