forum for air compressor motor question?
Is this the correct forum for a question concerning an air compressor motor? Don't want to waste time if it isn't.

compressor motor capacitors
OK, Racraft, here it is. Just got a used compressor has a Doerr Emerson motor, model R610603BF94B. It is a 240v, 15amp, 6hp, single phase. All this is right off the motor label. The compressor (Campbell Hausfeld) was built in 1994. The motor has two capacitors mounted on top. How can I find out what the correct capacitors are? C-H is not a help.

I tried Ray's suggestion and it lead me back to this thread!
Have you tried disassembling the capacitor "cans" to see if the capacitors them self have any markings?
I'll also clue you in that that motor is not really six horsepower but is rated six horsepower "compressor duty" only.

ray2047 & furd, thx for your replys. I had already gone to the motor mfg site(which is Emerson) and Google before I posted my question. Sorry, should have said that. furd, you are correct about the hp. It is probably between 2 & 3 actual. I understand the hp issue goes back some years to Sears who exaggerated hp ratings. The capacitors are a Philips 3534B6A0634A110A4, says 110v on the markings. It is shorted out. Also, the diameter is 2", and the metal cover will only allow for a 1 3/4" capacitor. It was jammed into the cover, and I had to pry it out. The other is a Aeromet II M23P3715M00. It fits nicely, and is not shorted out.
