Pull power from an outlet to wire a switch and light

Planning on installing a light outside the backdoor that can be operated from a switch inside the house. There is an outlet on the interior wall. The outlet is at the end of the circuit (only one set of wires feeding the outlet). Can I pull power from this outlet to wire a wall switch to operate the outside light? Thanks for any suggestions!

As long as it's not a kitchen receptacle you can tap it .

As long as it's not a bathroom, kitchen, dining room, pantry, or other prohibited circuit you can do this.
