Cool Covering heating window units during winter

Hi,
Is there a way to cover heating window units during the winter so air does not blow through?
Thanks,
Ginger

Question Heating window unit

It is a unit that sits in the opening of a window just like an AC window unit. We have four of them in different rooms, and all are combined AC and heating units. Does that explain it any better?
Thanks

If you are not using these and they have been turned off or unplugged or other wise disconnected, then you can cover them with an air conditioner cover or similar cover.

Being used

They are being used. Does the air that is being "sucked" in come from the inside for the heat, or the outside like the AC/cold air? If it is from the inside and is just being recycled, then it seems as though I could cover it anyway. If not, then are there any kind of vents that could be put on, outside, and be turned for wind deflection?

Look for an "outside vent" or "outside air" switch or lever on the units. If you see one, turn it off. If that doesn't stop the cold air from blowing in, check the area surrounding the units. Cold air could be coming in from the window frame.
