Hvac Breaker?

Just curious,

While rearranging some spaces in my panel, I came across a 30 amp dual pole breaker, that has a white label on it , That says "Suitable For HVAC use".

Is there anything different about it, ? It has been running my dryer without any issues, but Im curious if I should just change it? .......Thanx

It is a breaker that can handle the large start-up current associated with air conditioners without tripping. Almost all breakers now carry a similar rating (HACR - heating air conditioning refrigeration). It's basically equivalent to a time-delay fuse to compare with the older technology.

Majorty of resdential breakers are rated for HACR nowdays and also for most of single pole and some double pole they are SWD rating as well.

it pretty much the standard for a while.

other hand larger commercal sized breaker that diffrent story [ i rather not get into this part due it is out of the DIY scope due the voltage and size capaity ]

Merci, Marc
