bathfan add on

Hi
I would like to add a bath fan to the existing light junction box. The box has
power in black, pig tailed to the light switch white
power in white, pig tailed to the light white
switch black, pig tailed to the light black.

Can I add on to a new switch and fan by pigtailing to the power in black and white pig tails?

I hope that you can understand my explanation.
Thanks for any help

You will either need to run a new 12-2 (or 14-2) NM cable to the switch box or better replace the existing 12-2 (14-2) NM with 12-3 (14-3) Nm. If you now have a single gang switch box you can remove it to give you room to fish new cable. (The old will be abandoned if 12/14-3 is used.) Then replace it with a 2-gang old work box or a single gang if you want to use a duplex switch.

Preceding assumes access from an attic.
