Confused

Hi, My name is sean and from Wyoming. This is my first post due to totally being lost with this anomally. (SP?) So i have moved a wall 2 feet back in my basement and had to junction the wire and create a new run, well it sounds and seemed simple til i turned the Circuit Breaker on and the lights acted totally retarded. heres the best layout i can give without drawing and then uploading. X- Lights @- Light switch O- outlet Start ..........[-------------------] <---what i reran. X------@--O---O---@--------X--------X From the start dropping out of the ceiling there is three wires, Red, Black, and White. It looked like they only used two; black and red. So those are the only two i used. Whenever i flip the switch in room 1, the lights flicker and turn off, and the lights in room two turn on. When i flip the switch in room 2 the lights in room 2 turn off and the lights in room 1 turn on...... im so lost. I love remodeling a house that someone made in the 70's. I've found hypodermic needles and paraphanalia in the walls. does anyone have an idea on how i can leave the original wire in and wire this up so the switch for room 1 does its job, the two outlets have constant power, and switch 2 does its job and both switches wont affect each other.

I have a Delta/Baldor 2hp/1ph motor from a table saw. Brought it to a motor shop and they wanted an ungodly sum to clean, replace capacitor/starter/points on the motor and reassemble. Got it back after diagnostic. I'm mechanically inclined but never have done electronics. Is this something that can be done by a diy? He said the windings look good..
