How to Test air handler fan motor

I have A/C unit that's not working . Air handler fan turns periodically, a Little bit every 5 seconds. What could be?

Sound like the motor is burn out before you do anything more with this..

First turn off the power to the airhandling unit and make sure the power is off then next step is see if the fan motor shaft turn over free with out any restance or rubbing or tight turning.

If the motor turn over very easy.

It possiblty that the capaitor [ used to start up the motor ] can be open or one set of winding is burnt out.

Otherwise you have to replace the motor.

Merci,Marc

You may want to check the contactor as well. It may be worn, and it is about a $12-$15 fix.
