half of kitchen outlets not working

recently we had a storm and it knock out half of the outlets in my kitchen. I checked the breaker and resetted them and it still had the problem. My house has GFCI outlets and I've checked and none of those were tripped. I had my friend bring over his power tester and it does have power going to the outlet. Thinking that I may have a bad GFCI outlet, I bought and switch out one of the outlets to no avail.

Could another GFCI outlet be bad? Any help would be appreciated

If you have ck'd the C/B and they are ok, you need to find the first circuit from the C/B panel. It may not be where you think it is, it could be in the dinning room or pantry going up to the first GFI in your kitchen, then to the rest of the 20 amp recp. Did you take apart a GFI, and maybe put the line side on the load side? The line side is to the bottom of the GFI. Let us know what you find.

Sounds like yo umay have an open neutral since your tester indicates you have power. Could be anywhere from the panel to the first not working device.
