Need 110VAC, 25 amps

I have a battery charger that requires 110Vac, 25 amp input - it has a regular NEMA 5-20 plug. The problem is that all of the 110Vac circuits in my old, wooden home are 20 amps, and I assume that they all have 12 gauge wire. I have a 240VAC dryer plug that I could use. What is the easiest safe way to get 110Vac, 25 amps to my charger?

Thanks.

Wire

Run a new circuit using 10 gauge copper wire and a 30 amp single pole breaker.

Are you certain that it draws 25 amps, or does it actually supply 25 amps at 12 volts.

Can you tell us the model number of this battery charger i am supecting this is a hevey duty charger with boost feature in there.

The only time i did see 25 amp rating when the charger run in boost mode other wise normal charging rate it will be much lower.

But if this is a industrail battery charger then it will change a bit here. { something that used for charging up forklift battery or electric vechile batteries }

Merci,Marc

If the N5-20 plug is original equipment, I would assume that the equipment will not draw over 20 amps.

so, why not the dryer recept?

If the poster has only a temp. need for the charger and he had a 4 wire dryer outlet in the area, AND the device does require over 20 amps (questionable), then a dryer cordset would offer the easy and safe path to a solution. I would not do this with an older 3 wire recept, however, due to the high neutral current.
